India, US, Japan, Australia begin phase 1 of Malabar naval exercise

The first phase of Malabar naval exercise began in the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, with participation from Indian Navy, United States Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Royal Australian Navy. The 24th edition of the Malabar naval exercise is scheduled to take place in two phases this month. Before this, Australia participated in the exercise in 2007.
