Para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar won India's first medal at Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026 in Glasgow, clinching bronze in men's heavyweight category with 130.9 points. The 29-year-old registered a best lift of 190 kg on his second attempt. Nigeria's Riluwan Idris won gold with 132.8 points, while England's Matthew Harding took silver with 131.0 points. Jhandu missed gold by 1.9 points.
