India withdraws bid to host annual UN climate talks in 2028: Report

India has withdrawn its offer to host United Nations’ annual Climate Conference of Parties (COP33) in 2028, Reuters reported, citing 2 government officials. It wasn't immediately clear why government pulled out, officials said. However, Climate Home News, which first reported it, said India ⁠withdrew after "review of its commitments" in 2028. PM Narendra Modi proposed ​hosting the summit in 2023.
