Indian Air Force was established on this day

The Indian Air Force (IAF) was established on October 8, 1932. The word 'Royal' was added as a prefix to the IAF in 1945 to recognise its services during World War-II. However, it was dropped in 1950 when India became a republic. Notably, IAF with the motto 'Touch the Sky with Glory' is the fourth-largest air force in the world.
