Indian astronomer captures Jupiter, Andromeda over Ladakh skies

An astrophotographer captured Jupiter and the Andromeda galaxy from Ladakh. The photograph was taken above Ladakh’s Chilling Tso Lake during Jupiter’s annual opposition, an alignment that occurs when Earth lies directly between Jupiter and the Sun. During opposition, Jupiter appears larger and brighter in the night sky. Chilling Tso is located nearly 5,000 metres above sea level.
