Indian exporters face ₹3.67-lakh surcharge amid Middle East war

Shipping lines are demanding contingency surcharge of up to $4,000 (₹3.67 lakh) on 40-feet containers carrying perishable goods, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) CEO Ajay Sahai said. The shipping lines are refusing to release consignments even for products that had reached ports before the Middle East war, he noted. "We've raised the issue with the Commerce Ministry," Sahai added.
