Indian fisherman, stuck in Pak jail despite completing sentence, dies

An Indian fisherman died on January 16 in a jail in Pakistan's Karachi, despite completing his sentence in 2022 and having his Indian nationality verified, according to activists, FPJ reported. The death has renewed calls for the repatriation of Indian detainees in Pakistan. Activists say 198 Indian fishermen remain jailed and allege three to four die in Pakistani custody annually.
