Indian mathematician Mahesh wins Ramanujan Prize for contributions to algebraic number theory

Indian mathematician Mahesh Kakde, a professor at IISc Bangalore, has been awarded 2026 Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians from Developing Countries for his important contributions to algebraic number theory. The award recognises his fundamental results on noncommutative Iwasawa theory and his outstanding work on Gross-Stark and Brumer-Stark conjectures. Prize carries a $10,000 cash award.
