Indian-origin man becomes Canada's 1st bearded Sikh marine engineer
Karambir Singh Kang, an Indian-origin man from Punjab's Gurdaspura, has become Canada's first Sikh marine engineer to serve while keeping a beard. This comes after rules were relaxed following an agreement between the World Sikh Organisation and the BC Ferries union and Marine Works Union. Gurpreet Bajwa also became the first turbaned Sikh deck officer and captain at BC Ferries.
