Indian-origin man behind ₹11-cr 'ghost employee scam' in US himself earned ₹2.4 cr/yr
Karan Gupta, the 47-year-old Indian-origin man who cheated US-based Optum of $1.2 million (₹11 crore) using a 'ghost employee scam', himself earned $260,000/year (₹2.4 crore). Gupta recruited his friend, who earned a starting salary of $100,000 and gave over half his salary back to Gupta. The fraud came to light after Gupta was fired for a separate fraud by Optum.
