Indian-origin teen develops new method of removing pesticides from fruits

Arika Kundu, a 13-year-old Indian-American student from Minnesota, has developed a method to remove pesticide residues from fruits and vegetables using discarded peanut shells. She converts the shells into a biosorbent material that absorbs and traps pesticide residues from fresh produce. The treated peanut-shell material acts as a natural filter, attracting and binding pesticide residues.
