Indian passport holders abroad recognised as citizens under RTI

Amid the ongoing passport debate, government records from 2010 clarify that Indian passport holders living abroad are treated as citizens under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. This allows NRIs to continue filing RTI applications and seeking information from Indian public authorities. However, the provision does not apply to OCI and PIO cardholders who are not Indian citizens.
