Indian Railways failed to recover ₹4,087 crore from private firms, didn't even bill many: CAG
A CAG report found that Indian Railways failed to recover ₹4,087.33-crore dues from 269 owners of private sidings, extended tracks that connect main railway line with a company's premises. The dues include land licence fees and charges related to construction and maintenance of sidings, which Railways undertakes. It found that for 147 sidings, Railways didn't even bill the owners.
