Indian Railways to upgrade reservation system after 40 years

Indian Railways will roll out a new Passenger Reservation System in August 2026, replacing the platform that has been in use since 1986. The upgraded system will process significantly more bookings, improve enquiry speeds, reduce booking failures, and offer a smoother user experience. Officials said the modernisation would strengthen the railways' digital infrastructure.
