Indian scientists create 'designer rice' with low glycaemic index
Scientists from CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology have developed "designer rice", which has low glycaemic index and is rich in micronutrients and proteins. The rice enhances protein content, moderates carbohydrate digestibility for better glycaemic response, and provides nutrients such as iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 to help bridge dietary gaps, they said.
