Indian telescope captures building-sized asteroid zoom past Earth

The GROWTH-India Telescope captured a 380-ft, building-sized asteroid as it made its closest approach to Earth on Thursday. The asteroid, 2011 MW1, was speeding towards Earth at 28,946 kmph. Sharing the image on X, astrophysicist Varun Bhalerao wrote, "The rapid motion makes background stars look like streaks." The asteroid was just 2.4 million miles away at its closest approach.
