Indian UN troops to remain in south Lebanon amid Israeli incursion

The Indian contingent in the United Nations Interim Force in South Lebanon (UNIFIL) will be staying put amid Israel's ground incursion. UNIFIL has around 10,500 peacekeepers from 50 countries, including India, which currently has 900 members posted there. UNIFIL was established in 1978 to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon as the former invaded Lebanon that year.
