Indian-origin Anita Anand becomes Canada's Defence Minister
Indian-origin Anita Anand has been appointed as Canada's new Defence Minister in a Cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Anand is the second woman to serve as Canada's Defence Minister. The 54-year-old, who will replace Indian-origin Harjit Sajjan, previously served as procurement minister and led the country's efforts to purchase vaccines in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
