Indian-origin S'pore policeman on trial for Myanmar maid's death

An Indian-origin police officer in Singapore went on trial on Thursday for his role in the death of a domestic helper from Myanmar for which his ex-wife and mother-in-law are imprisoned. The maid, Piang Ngaih Don, who died following prolonged abuse, weighed 24 kg at the time of her death. She was assaulted for being 'too slow' while doing laundry.
