Indians become Australia's largest migrant group for the first time in history

Indians have become Australia’s largest migrant group for the first time, overtaking those born in England, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data. Around 9,71,020 people in Australia, or 5.2% of the population, were born in India, narrowly surpassing the 9,70,950 born in England. China remains the third‑largest group of non‑Australian‑born residents, with 7,32,000 people.
