India's average family size down by 4.7%: Census

The average size of Indian households dropped 4.71%, from 4.67 members per family in 2001 to 4.45 in 2011, according to the Census data released on Friday. The Muslim community saw the sharpest decline in average family size, falling 8.19% to 5.15 members. Further, the figure declined 5.02% to 4.9 for Hindu families and 7.44% to 5.1 for Sikh households.
