India's first case of new COVID-19 variant 'XE' detected in Mumbai

One case of the new COVID-19 variant, XE, has been detected in Mumbai. The variant, a mutation of the BA.1 and BA.2 Omicron strains, was recently traced in UK. The WHO had issued a warning against the 'XE' variant of Omicron, that may be more transmissible than any other COVID-19 strain.
