IndiGo flight descended at 8,500 ft/min during turbulence, 8x the normal rate

Aviation regulator DGCA said that the Delhi-Srinagar IndiGo flight, which faced turbulence on Wednesday, descended at 8,500 feet per minute after the weather deteriorated. This rate is over eight times the normal descent rate of 500-1000 feet per minute, as mentioned by US aviation watchdog FAA. The pilot flew the aircraft manually till the plane exited the hailstorm, DGCA added.
