Indonesia's halal rules may burden Indian exporters: GTRI
Indonesia's mandatory halal certification, effective October 17, covers imported food, cosmetics, medicines and medical devices. GTRI warns Indian exporters face higher compliance costs, customs delays or border rejections if unprepared. Certification must be obtained through accredited bodies with MRAs with Indonesia's BPJPH. India's exports to Indonesia already fell 16.52% to $4.49 billion in 2025-26.
