Insult to Islam: Iran as Aus Embassy marks 'Wear It Purple Day'
Iran has summoned the Australian ambassador in Tehran over a "disrespectful" photo celebrating an annual LGBTQ+ awareness day posted to the embassy's Instagram page, calling it an 'insult to Islam'. The post, featuring photos of diplomats in purple attire to mark 'Wear It Purple Day' was intended to honour LGBTQIA+ youth and promote inclusivity. Homosexuality is illegal in Iran.
