Interfaith marriage not prohibited by UP's anti-conversion law: HC

Interfaith marriages and live-in relationships are not prohibited under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021, the Allahabad High Court remarked. "Interference in a personal relationship would constitute a serious encroachment into the right to freedom of choice of the two individuals," the court said. It added that one cannot be forced to convert religion.
