Thomas Alva Edison, popularly known as the inventor of the practical electric light bulb, was born on February 11, 1847, in the US. His greatest inventions include the phonograph and the motion picture camera. He was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of mass production to inventions for developing the first commercially viable electric bulb in 1879.
