Investors lose ₹9 lakh crore as Sensex plunges over 1,100 points

Benchmark index Sensex fell over 1,100 points to close at 72,771.72 on Monday. The sell-off wiped out around ₹9 lakh crore in investor wealth, with the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies falling to ₹4,74,47,382 crore. Nifty also declined 1.5% to close at 22,780.25 as rising crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions and foreign fund outflows weighed on market sentiment.
