Iran, Oman close to finalising new Hormuz shipping plan: Report

A New York Times report said Iran and Oman are close to finalising a deal to jointly coordinate commercial navigation through Strait of Hormuz. Under the plan, ships entering Persian Gulf would use northern lane near Iran, while outbound vessels would use southern lane near Oman. Iran would reportedly charge “service fees” instead of formal tolls to cover environmental impacts.
