Iran appoints Mohsen Rezaei as secretary of top national security body

Iran has appointed ex-Revolutionary Guards commander Mohsen Rezaei as secretary of its Supreme National Security Council, replacing Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr. Rezaei, who led Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) from 1981 to 1997, was also appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's representative to the council. The leadership change comes amid Iran's ongoing war with US and Israel.
