Iran conflict could drag 25 lakh more Indians into poverty: UN

The ongoing military escalation in Iran could push up to 2.5 million (25 lakh) people in India into poverty, PTI reported, citing estimates by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The poverty rate could rise to 24.2% from 23.9%, increasing the total number of people living in poverty to over 354 million from around 351.6 million before the crisis.
