Iran crisis began in 1979: London University's SOAS expert

According to Burzine Waghmar of SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in London University, the Israel-Iran escalation is rooted in the 1979 Islamic Republic's formation. He blamed decades of repression under Iran's leadership and argued the regime's policies destabilised West Asia. Waghmar said meaningful regional peace would require a major political shift in Tehran.
