Iran launches dating app 'Hamdam' to encourage marriage

Amid increase in divorce rates in the country, Iranian government-affiliated cultural body on Monday launched a dating application designed to promote marriage, state media reported. The app named Hamdam, or "companion", will help younger people find the right mate for a "sustainable marriage", the cultural body said. Iran reported more than 170,000 divorces and some 520,000 marriages in 2019.
