Iran retain Amir Ghalenoei as head coach until AFC Asian Cup 2027

The Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation has extended head coach Amir Ghalenoei's contract until the AFC Asian Cup 2027 in Saudi Arabia. The decision comes after Iran failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stage despite remaining unbeaten in the group stage. Iran drew 2-2 with New Zealand, 0-0 with Belgium and 1-1 against Egypt.
