Iran reverse engineering unexploded US weapons for military use

Iran has recovered unexploded US bombs and munitions to examine and reverse engineer usable components for possible military use, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). It added, "Today, several controlled detonations will take place in Mazandaran Province in northern Iran." In December 2025, Iran reported developing a warhead by replicating the US' bomb, GBU-57.
