An NYT report said Iranian hard-liner Hossein Taeb was behind attacks on ships in Strait of Hormuz after US and Iran signed a peace deal. Taeb spent over two decades running Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence wing but was removed after reports of Israeli infiltration in 2022. He's now in charge of the Basij militia, responsible for curbing internal dissent in Iran.
