Iran threatens to lay naval mines across entire Persian Gulf

Iran's Defence Council warned that any attack on the country's coast or islands could prompt the deployment of explosive sea mines across the entire Persian Gulf. The ​US is reportedly considering plans to occupy or ​blockade Iran's Kharg Island, the country's main ⁠oil export hub. Trump has also given a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.
