Iran war to drag on as US plans to extend Middle East troop deployments into 2027: Report

The US-Iran war may drag on to the upcoming year as US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth is planning to extend troop deployments in the Middle East into 2027, The Wall Street Journal reported. In order to keep military options open, around 50,000 US troops are still deployed across the Middle East. Warships, fighter squadrons, air-defence units remain involved in missions.
