IRS officer helps build low-cost water-saving model in drought-hit T'gana villages

A 2014-batch IRS officer, P. Sudhakar Naik, spent seven consecutive weekends travelling over 600 km from Mumbai to drought-hit villages in Telangana to help conserve rainwater. Working with villagers and local authorities, he helped build low-cost soak pits, ponds and stone bunds using local materials. The ₹2-lakh model is now helping improve groundwater levels in water-scarce regions.
