Indian writer, reformer and lecturer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was born on September 26, 1820. His original name was Ishwar Chandra Bandopadhyay. He received the title 'Vidyasagar' (Ocean of Knowledge) from his graduation college due to his excellent performance in studies and philosophy. Vidyasagar introduced the practice of widow remarriages in India. 'Betaal Pachisi' is one of his finest works.
