Israel carries out most intense airstrikes in central Beirut in decades

In some of the most intense airstrikes on Beirut in decades, Israeli warplanes hit the Lebanese capital's central districts on Wednesday. The attack, carried out against Iran-backed Hezbollah group, destroyed apartment buildings. Hezbollah had launched attacks on Israel in solidarity with Iran. Israel had also launched a ground assault in southern Lebanon.
