Israel scrambled fighter jets and nearly shot down Flydubai flight FZ1073 after losing contact following a cockpit attack. Omani copilot Hamam al-Hammami attacked Indian Captain Smit Machchhar in an apparent bid to crash the Israel-bound flight. The plan was aborted when the plane diverted for an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. The investigation suggested it was a lone-wolf attack.
