Israel releases Palestinian female footballer Rand al-Halawani after detention

Israeli authorities released Palestinian female football player Rand al-Halawani on Sunday evening after detaining her for about a week, Palestinian authorities said. The 20-year-old, a member of the women's national football team, has been placed under five days of house arrest following her release. She was arrested for allegedly "throwing objects" at people in Jerusalem, police had said.
