Israeli airstrike kills FIFA World Cup screening organiser in Gaza

A Palestinian aid official who organised public screenings of the Egypt-Argentina FIFA World Cup 2026 match was killed in an Israeli airstrike just before kickoff, Associated Press reported. The victim, Mohamed al-Wahidi, was an official with the Egyptian Committee in Gaza. The strike also killed three others, including two children. Israel said it targeted a Hamas militant, not the organiser.
