Israeli PM Netanyahu will seek re-election, his Likud Party says

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu will seek re-election in 2026, the Likud Party announced on Wednesday. This will be Israel’s first election since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, after which Israel launched its offensive in Gaza. The announcement came even as US President Donald Trump said he was not sure whether Netanyahu would contest the election again.
