ISRO test fires VIKAS engine to be used in Gaganyaan mission

ISRO on Thursday successfully test-fired the high-thrust VIKAS engine for Gaganyaan space mission in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu. As per ISRO, the 25-second long qualification test was carried out to verify the engine's robustness by operating beyond its nominal operating conditions. Delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and successive lockdowns, Gaganyaan mission will carry humans in space in 2023.
