IT Department disposes of 2.22 lakh appeals during FY26: Report

The Income Tax Department disposed of over 2.22 lakh appeals during FY26, Moneycontrol reported, citing CBDT Chairman Ravi Agrawal's fiscal-end letter. This comes as part of the department's efforts to reduce disputes with taxpayers. As per the letter, the department disposed of 2,22,540 appeals during FY26, compared to 1,72,361 appeals addressed during FY25, showing a growth of 29.11%.
