Amid defections from TMC, party chief Mamata Banerjee said, "It's like a mother who raised you all your life; when she falls ill, you refuse to care for her," India Today reported. A total of 20 TMC MPs announced support for the BJP-led NDA, and around 58 MLAs formed a rebel faction. "There's no pardon for traitors," she added.
