Italian conman built fake amphitheatre, charged ₹4,000 entry fee
An Italian conman who fooled tourists and local authorities into believing he had discovered an ancient Roman amphitheatre has been jailed for two years and four months. Franco Malosso von Rosenfranz charged visitors €40 (around ₹4,400) to hear fabricated history before investigators exposed the site as a modern construction using satellite imagery. He was also fined €3,000 and faces damages.
