Italy completes withdrawal of armed forces from Iraq after 12 yrs

Italy on Tuesday completed the withdrawal of its last troops from Iraq, ending a ‌12-year military deployment, Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said. Italy had ​already recalled most of its ​personnel in March after a drone struck a base camp. Thousands of Italian troops had served in Iraq to fight against ISIS and train Iraqi armed forces and security forces.
